Despite institutional barriers to tribal self-determination stemming from federal trust authority over tribal trust lands, a number of tribes have adaptation plans that include a focus on subsistence and commercial economic activities. Observed and projected changes of increased wildfire, diminished snowpack, pervasive drought, flooding, ocean acidification, and sea level rise threaten the viability of Indigenous peoples’ traditional subsistence and commercial activities that include agriculture, hunting and gathering, fisheries, forestry, energy, recreation, and tourism enterprises.
Indigenous peoples’ traditional knowledge systems can play a role in advancing understanding of climate change and in developing more comprehensive climate adaptation strategies.
Indigenous peoples’ histories and shared experience engender distinct knowledge about climate change impacts and strategies for adaptation. Many Indigenous peoples have lived in particular areas for hundreds if not thousands of years. Though they may be affected by climate change in ways that are similar to others in the United States, Indigenous peoples can also be affected uniquely and disproportionately. From what I've read your only real options are to try to throw a flare or to come down really quickly in some water (thus cooling off quickly) in order to break the missle lock.Indigenous peoples in the United States are diverse and distinct political and cultural groups and populations. Having a high heat rating allows players and turrets with heat-guided rockets to thrash you as they're tough to avoid once they're locked up on you. This may change somewhat in Tribes 2 however as you now have a 'heat' rating that increases the longer you burn your jetpack then slowly cools off when you're not using it. Of course being in the air doesn't always keep you from dying and wearing heavy armor gives you a better life expectancy when walking around on the ground.but the basic concept still remains. This also reinforces one of the cardinal rules of Tribes.if you stay on the ground you're a dead man. You find out quickly in Tribes that your best bet is to conserve ammo until your opponent has to touch down to recharge jetpack energy and then let loose. It's nearly impossible to hit people with most of the weapons, so most of your damage comes from waiting until they run out of jetpack fuel, then firing a disk at their feet
